Meet OD Harris

A PASSION FOR SERVICE

I grew up in a loving family. My parents were married for twenty-four years until my father died when I was fourteen. My Mom was a homemaker, and my Dad was a Vietnam veteran who became a blue-collar worker.

Vice Mayor OD Harris, a beacon of public service, was elected to his first term on Chandler City Council in January 2021. His journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his community. A proud U.S. Veteran, successful entrepreneur, and founder of the National Ready Set Go Foundation (RSG), he continues to inspire hope and change in the hearts of many.

Vice Mayor Harris began his humble entrepreneurial journey by opening multiple Tax Prep and Accounting firm locations in seven states, growing it, and then successfully franchising the business, which he later sold to a national competitor. Vice Mayor's humble beginnings helped him understand the value of hard work.

Running his own company and managing multiple locations taught me about budgeting, hiring, and listening to other people. It also taught me to think outside the box while remaining fiscally conservative. As a city council member and now as Vice Mayor these skills to manage our city’s budget, I’ve used and actively listened to our citizens and employees within the Chandler City government.

Vice Mayor Harris has left a lasting impact on the City of Chandler. He founded the first Mental Health Walk, a testament to his commitment to the well-being of the community. He also founded Culture Music in the Park, established the prestigious Chandler Martin Luther King Awards, and pushed for the creation of Chandler’s first-ever Veteran Commission, all of which have contributed to the city’s vibrant and inclusive culture.

Vice Mayor Harris, a man of faith, leads with a humble and dedicated spirit. His service extends beyond the City of Chandler, as he serves on local, regional, and national committees and boards, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his community.
